For anyone who wants to help get the word out, I've listed some tips, ideas and possible activities. If you have other thoughts, let me know. Thanks in advance for all your help!
- Tell someone. Recommend the book to a friend, a niece or nephew or maybe a high or middle school teacher. Even though it may be classified as Young Adult, the age of the reader shouldn't be a factor.
- Chat up your local bookstore owners. Independent bookstores have taken a beating with Amazon and big box retailers, but if we don't support them they will be gone from our towns. If you have one nearby, ask if they are interested in carrying an independent book.
- Write a review. The book is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple, and Lulu. Other places to write a review include IndieBrag and Goodreads. Any write-ups could help spur interest, so all are appreciated. Don't forget to send in a Reader View if you want to be on this site.
- Convince a critic to write a review. There are a lot of book sites and blogs out there - your prodding might convince them to take on the book. Huffington Post has a book section, as do most major papers. Small town papers are probably the easiest to go after, so if you have one in mind, let me know.
- Get it on your book club list. It's a fun read that also makes good conversation fodder. If I can, I'll try and get to the event. If not, I can provide a discussion sheet as well as some answers to the top burning questions.
- Chat up your relative who owns a major movie studio. If you get the deal rolling, you'll definitely get some screen time as an extra. But be clear - selling rights does not mean losing creative control. Money isn't worth butchering the story for the silver screen. Of course, I say that now, with no offer on the table :)
